After the polling was over in Telangana for 17 Lok Sabha seats, all the three major political parties in the state – Congress, BRS and BJP have been expressing confidence to win a majority of seats. However, while Congress and BJP are claiming to win double- digit number of seats, BRS leaders are expressing hope to win over 8 seats.
Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy said the Congress party would win 9 to 13 seats in the State, besides securing a majority of at least 20,000 votes in the Secunderabad Cantonment assembly constituency by-election.
Indicating the main opposition party BRS may not win more than 2 or three seats, he said it would lose deposits in six to seven seats and the BJP got pushed to the third spot in Medak constituency.
Union Minister and State BJP chief G Kishan Reddy also claimed that his party would win double- digit number of seats and indicated it is likely to win over 12 seats. He also felt that the BRS may not win more than two seats.
The BRS working president K T Rama Rao said the BRS would win more seats than the two national parties. He accused the both Congress and BJP colluded to defeat BRS and confined to abusing Chandrashekhar Rao, rather than explaining their contributions to the State.
He said both the national parties, which were competing in Delhi, were working with each other in Telangana. He alleged that the Congress fielded dummy candidates in six to seven segments such as Karimnagar, Nizamabad, Secunderabad, Malkajgiri and a few others to help the BJP.
“It appears that Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy strove harder than BJP State president G Kishan Reddy for the BJP’s victory,” he said, adding that despite all efforts by the Congress and BJP, the BRS would win a majority of the Lok Sabha seats in the State.
KTR said the 17-day bus yatra by party president K Chandrashekhar Rao turned out to be a game changer, placing the BRS ahead of the Congress and the BJP in the Lok Sabha elections in Telangana. Both the national parties had dubbed the BRS a non-contender in the parliament elections, but the bus yatra proved that the BRS was still a force to reckon with in the State, he added.
