Review :

In the initial half of the film, “Prathindhi 2,” the storyline follows a familiar trajectory as the protagonist, Chetan, exposes the corruption rampant among political leaders. While some portions of this narrative arc may seem predictable, the film manages to inject fresh energy into these scenes through deft handling. Particularly noteworthy are moments where Chetan confronts corrupt politicians on live television, stripping away their façade to reveal their true nature. Additionally, the film effectively conveys its message about the importance of voting through a compelling video segment, despite these themes being well-trodden territory. It is the sincerity of the film’s intentions and the resonance of its message that elevate these scenes, rendering the first half of the film engaging and passable.

The film captivates audiences with its sharp dialogue and brisk storytelling, effectively masking its familiar storyline. Cleverly integrated comedic elements, particularly the Sapthagiri track, along with the compelling scenes surrounding the by-poll, keep viewers engaged. The interval twist adds an extra layer of intrigue. Nara Rohit’s return to the screen is commendable, delivering a convincing portrayal of Chetan, a journalist unyielding in his pursuit of justice. His consistent delivery of dialogue underscores his dedication to the character. Alongside Rohit, Sachin Khedekar, Dinesh Teja, Udaya Bhanu, and Sapthagiri deliver solid performances, enhancing the film’s overall quality.

The second half of the film proves to be a letdown compared to its promising start. While the first half effectively sheds light on political corruption, the latter part shifts focus to the CBI’s investigation into the Chief Minister’s assassination. However, the portrayal of this investigation comes across as implausible and superficial, diminishing the film’s credibility. The exaggerated depiction of high-profile figures and officials further dilutes the sincerity of its underlying message, ultimately detracting from its overall impact.

The director’s quest for commercial appeal overshadows logical coherence in the film, leading to instances where realism takes a back seat to spectacle. Several scenes defy logic and exaggerate situations, disrupting the narrative’s flow and overall credibility. Certain aspects, such as the inclusion of a romantic song and the protagonist’s childhood segments, feel gratuitous and lack depth. Additionally, while the cliffhanger ending sets up a potential third installment, it fails to evoke genuine interest from audiences, leaving them feeling underwhelmed and disengaged.

“Prathinidhi” opens with a compelling narrative but occasionally loses steam due to the inclusion of conventional elements. The investigative angle of the story resonates strongly, leaving a lasting impact. While the dialogues pack a punch, they can sometimes veer into preachiness. Overall, the storyline, screenplay, and direction show a decent level of craftsmanship. Murthy’s effort to impart advice to the audience ahead of elections deserves commendation.
