TDP chief and former Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said that he has 100% confidence that NDA will win the Andhra Pradesh Lok Sabha and Assembly elections. He made it clear that they will win 160 Assembly and 24 Lok Sabha seats.
Speaking to Republic TV Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami, he said he is also confident that NDA will come to power under the leadership of Narendra Modi at the center with over 400 Lok Sabha seats. He said in 2019 polls people elected YS Jaganmohan Reddy, when he asked to give him one chance. But, he said that after seeing his misrule they decided not to give him another chance.
Now, according to him, the biggest advantage to TDP and its allies is that people are comparing the governance of both Jagan and TDP and also that of Modi.
Naidu recalled that he had supported the simultaneous elections in 2017 itself and said that if the elections are held every five years, the focus can be on development and welfare. He said that he will work in accordance with Modi’s goal of becoming a developed India by 2047.
Recalling the fact that Chandrababu had opposed the BJP in 2019, Arnav asked what is the difference. Chandrababu said that AP has suffered a lot after the partition and asked for special status in 2019. He said that during Jagan’s regime, the state suffered a lot and there was no democracy there that made him work with NDA to save AP and the Telugu people.
He said that there is despair in everyone towards Jagan’s government and everyone is a victim. He said that there is consensus on the Modi government at the national level. He said that he created a vision for 2020 in Andhra Pradesh in 1999 and it has now become a reality.
Arnav asked why relations with Jaganmohan Reddy were strained. Chandrababu said that his father YS Rajasekhar Reddy and he were friends and were close in the 80s. He said that later they parted ways and he joined Telugu Desam and Reddy stayed in the Congress. He said that there were no allegations of corruption against him and that he always wanted to give clean and honest good governance to the people.
