In a significant development, TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu, his brother-in-law Nandamuri Balakrishna and Balakrishna’s sister Daggubati Purandeswari have filed nominations on the same day, Friday, in their respective constituencies.
While Chandrababu Naidu is contesting to the assembly from Kuppam for the consecutive eighth time, on his behalf his wife Nara Bhuvaneshwari filed nominations. In Hindupur sitting MLA Balakrishna filed his nominations for the consecutive third term, as the TDP candidate.
Purandeswari filed her nomination from Rajahmundry Lok Sabha constituency, as BJP candidate, with the support of TDP and Jana Sena. Union Minister Gen. V K Singh was also present on this occasion. Earlier, she was elected to the Lok Sabha from Bapatla and Visakhapatnam as Congress candidate and became union minister.
However, later she was defeated as BJP candidate contesting from Rajampet and Visakhapatnam. Presently, for the first time she is contesting from Rajahmundry.
Meanwhile, Chandrababu Naidu’s son Nara Lokesh filed his nomination from Mangalagiri assembly constituency on Thursday itself. He was defeated from here in the 2019 polls, but contested again from here only.
TDP is the only party in Andhra Pradesh that is yet to issue B-Forms for its candidates, while already YSRCP, Jana Sena and BJP handed over B Forms to their candidates. However, Chandrababu, his brother-in-law and son filed nominations soon after election notification was issued.
Chandrababu Naidu, who is contesting from Kuppam constituency since 1989, for the first time making a strategic move to showcase the support and involvement of his family in his political journey. That’s Why first time his wife Bhuvaneswari is involved in a poll campaign. Last month she also visited Kuppam and addressed a few public meetings.
Earlier, Chandrababu used to win from here without filing nominations on his own and even not participating in poll campaigns in the constituency.
