Gunshots outside Bollywood superstar Salman Khan’s Bandra house in Mumbai during wee hours on Sunday created havoc. Two motorbike-borne unidentified persons opened fire outside Bollywood Salman Khan’s house early in the morning leading the police to enhance security around his residence and launch a search for the accused.
The two persons fired four rounds outside the Galaxy Apartments in Mumbai’s Bandra area, where the actor resides, at around 4.30 am and fled from the spot, the police official said.
The cops have received information about three rounds of firing outside the Galaxy Apartments in Bandra area. Mumbai Police’s Crime Branch has reached the spot for investigation.A team of forensic science experts also reached the site, the police said.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde had a telephone conversation with the actor. He also held discussions with the Mumbai Police Commissioner and suggested increasing the security of Salman Khan.
The police have begun collecting CCTV footage to identify the persons. Also, the security outside the actor’s home has increased.
There’s no official statement from the police or Khan’s family on whether the actor was present in the house at the time of the incident.
Siv Sena (UBT) leader Anand Dubey took a dig at Eknath Shinde’s government by saying, “Criminals are roaming around fearlessly”. He added that no one is feeling safe in Mumbai and Maharashtra.
Last year, Salman Khan found himself targeted by a death threat from Canada-based fugitive gangster Goldy Brar, who openly declared that the Bollywood superstar was on his gang’s hit list. Earlier in the year, Mumbai Police had filed an FIR against gangsters Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldy Brar, along with another individual, following an email threatening Salman Khan at his Mumbai residence.
The e-mail stated that Khan must have seen an interview given to a news channel by Lawrence Bishnoi, and if not, he should see it. Addressing Gunjalkar, it said if Khan wants to close the matter, he should talk face-to-face with Goldy bhai, adding “there is still time but agli bar, jhatka dekhne ko milega” (you’ll see something shocking next time), police earlier said.
Before that, in June 2022, a threat letter was kept at a spot on Bandra Bandstand where the actor’s father, Salim Khan, would walk. The threat letter claimed that the actor would meet the fate of singer Sidhu Moosewala, who was killed in May 2022, allegedly by the Bishnoi gang. An FIR was registered regarding that threat letter as well.
Further, during interrogation with the Punjab Police, a Bishnoi gang member said two men had conducted a recce along Salman Khan’s route to his Panvel farmhouse from Mumbai. He said the two men had taken a room on rent for a month for this purpose. The Mumbai police, however, could not corroborate this.
