Congress has won the recently held Telangana assembly elections by convincing people that BRS was in collusion with BJP. Thus it hijacked anti- government votes, pushing BJP, which was earlier in second place, to the third position.
In this connection, Congress questioned why BRS chief KCR’s daughter Kavitha, who was named in the Delhi Liquor case, even after the arrest of two prominent Delhi ministers and a AAP Rajya Sabha member. In a way it put BJP into defence.
Presently, BRS seems to be attempting to play the same card against Congress to win more Lok Sabha seats. Taking advantage from chief minister Revanth Reddy’s initial political association with BJP and his cordial relations with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BRS leaders are now alleging that both Congress and BJP entered into a secret understanding in Lok Sabha polls.
Even some BRS leaders went to the extent of alleging that after Lok Sabha elections, Revanth Reddy will come out of Congress and will form his own government with the help of BJP. Former Minister T Harish Rao alleged that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy was fielding weak candidates in many Lok Sabha segments to help the victory of BJP aspirants.
That was why the selection of candidates for Karimnagar parliament segments was being delayed,he accused in Karimnagar. It may be recalled that Revanth Reddy, participating in a programme, attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the state, described him as his ‘elder brother’.
It was also strongly believed that last month Kavitha was arrested only as part of the understanding between BJP and Revanth Reddy. During his first meeting with the prime minister in New Delhi, after taking charge as chief minister, Prime Minister Modi has reportedly promised to extend help for his government, if he focuses his attention in `weakening KCR politically.
In more than half of Lok Sabha seats, both BJP and Congress together fielding ‘latest defectors’ as their candidates, intending to demoralize BRS cadre.
