Actress and singer Shruti Haasan, who is said to have starred in the English film Chennai Story, is now backed off from the movie. Shruti Haasan was just cast in her next English feature, Chennai Story, following Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s exit from the project. It is now allegedly rumored that Shruti Haasan has also exited the project. However, an official announcement has not been made by the film team.
According to recent reports, the actress has opted to drop out of the film helmed by English filmmaker and BAFTA winner Philip John. The film was touted to be a romantic comedy featuring Vivek Kalra and Shruti Haasan.
Earlier, Samantha Ruth Prabhu was scheduled to play the lead role in the film, as the filmmaker himself declared a few years ago. Shruti just replaced Samantha, who has also left the movie now.
This would have been Shruti’s second English film, following her first, ‘The Eye’, which she co-starred in with Mark Rowley in 2023. Although a replacement for her has not been announced yet, it would be intriguing to watch who the makers choose to cast now that two of the most successful leading ladies in Tamil cinema have opted to part ways with the movie. Fans are hoping that Samantha will be cast again in this picture.
The film Chennai Story was adapted from Timeri N. Murari’s 2004 novel The Arrangements of Love. The film follows Anu, a Tamil bisexual detective, as she attempts to assist a Welsh-Tamil man in finding his father.
