Friday, November 15, 2024

The Congress party unveiled its manifesto for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections at the party headquarters on Friday, outlining a range of pledges aimed at various segments of society, including women, farmers, youths, and the elderly.

A key focus of the manifesto is the caste Census, aligning with the party’s ‘jitni abaadi utna haq’ campaign, championed by Rahul Gandhi.

Among its notable proposals, the manifesto includes the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood, a guarantee of Minimum Support Price (MSP) for crops, and the repeal of the GST law and Agnipath scheme introduced by the Modi government.

Dubbed as ‘Nyay Patra’, the manifesto vows to “review and undo anti-people laws” and support media freedom.

Key highlights from the Congress party’s manifesto include:

Nationwide Socio-Economic and Caste Census to assess the socio-economic status of castes and sub-castes.
Proposal for a Constitutional amendment to increase the cap on reservations for SC, ST, and OBCs to 50 percent.
Reservation of 10 percent of jobs and educational opportunities for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), applicable to all castes and communities.
