Family Star in search of buzz ahead of release

As the release date draws closer, Vijay Devarakonda’s much-awaited family drama ‘Family Star’ requires strong buzz to garner impressive openings in all territories. The film marks the second collaboration of a blockbuster combination that previously delivered a runaway box office hit with Geetha Govindam. But, the promotional content that has been unveiled so far didn’t meet the high expectations of the heady combination.

Though the teasers received a lukewarm response from moviegoers and trade circles because of the familiar content, the two chartbuster songs managed to generate decent buzz on the film. But, the film needs much more hype to withstand competition from other releases like DJ Tillu. All eyes are now on the theatrical trailer that is going to be out on March 28th, which is exactly a week before the film’s release. The trailer should invariably strike a chord with the audience so that the anticipation for the film builds further and results in solid openings. In the meantime, the third single will be out shortly.

Vijay’s previous outing Kushi managed to get only a moderate reception at the box office despite terrific songs and good promotional content. Director Parasuram also fell short of the high expectations with Mahesh Babu’s Sarkaruvaari Paata.

So, both Vijay and Parasuram are desperate to make a strong comeback with Family Star. They are heavily banking on the combo hype in the audience. With no biggies slated for release during the Summer season, Family Star has the potential to set the cash registers ringing if it manages to garner decent talk.
