Maverick director Sandeep Reddy is riding on the crest of a success wave after scoring a hat-trick of blockbusters with Arjun Reddy, Kabir Singh and Animal. The roaring box office success of Animal has put him in the list of top-league directors in our country at present.
Sandeep is now gearing up to further cement his position in the elite league with his upcoming projects. It is a known fact that he will team up with Prabhas and Allu Arjun for his next two films. He will first work on Prabhas’ film. It is going to be a cop drama with Prabhas playing a police officer for the first time in his career.
One common and peculiar trait that is intrinsic to lead actors in all films of Sandeep Reddy is the display of excessive toxic masculinity. From Arjun Reddy to Animal, all heroes exhibited this behaviour throughout the story. This is why a section of moviegoers have deprecated Sandeep’s approach towards presenting his lead actors. But, he never paid heed to their opinions and delivered solid ripostes whenever he got the chance to do so.
But, Spirit is going to have some departure from this tradition. As per reliable reports, Prabhas asked Sandeep to tone down on violence and other forms of masculinity in Spirit. The director has reportedly promised to reduce the intensity of the police character in Spirit.
Spirit will have Prabhas as an angry police officer. As he garnered pan-India popularity among all sections of moviegoers, Prabhas doesn’t want it to erode because of bold characters. So, he told Sandeep Reddy to do away with any such intentions in the scripting stage itself.
As Prabhas will play a sincere and irreverent cop in this film as reported by Andhrawatch long back, many are expecting that the way Sandeep Reddy designs the mannerisms for the character will once again trigger controversies after its release. But Prabhas seems to be very particular in not giving Sandeep full freedom in designing the character arc for Spirit.
The regular shooting will commence towards the end of this year.
