Floating Bridge in Visakhapatnam Suffers Damage Just One Day After Inauguration

Monday, December 23, 2024

Visakhapatnam: The floating bridge recently inaugurated in Visakhapatnam met with an unfortunate fate, experiencing damage merely a day after its grand opening. The bridge, constructed over the sea, was inaugurated yesterday amidst much fanfare by YSRCP regional coordinator and Rajya Sabha MP YV Subba Reddy, alongside Minister Gudivada Amarnath. Reports indicate that a portion of the bridge collapsed, with its end being swept away into the sea.

Fortunately, no casualties were reported as the incident occurred when the bridge was devoid of pedestrian traffic. Security measures have been swiftly implemented to restrict access to the damaged area and prevent any potential accidents. The construction of the bridge, undertaken by the Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority, commenced in early January and was completed with remarkable speed. However, the abrupt damage has sparked criticism and disappointment among visitors and stakeholders alike.
