Narratives based on a particular region and the lifestyle of people there are always part of the mainstream Telugu cinema. Very often, we get to see stories based on regions like Uttarandhra, Rayalaseema and rural Telangana. Many films in the past made with regional flavour emerged as money spinners.
Upcoming films like Thandel and RC16 fall in this category because they are reportedly based out of the Uttarandhra region of Andhra Pradesh. Naga Chaitanya plays a fisherman from Srikakulam and Ram Charan appears as a Kabbadi player of the same region in these films respectively. They are going all out to get into the skin of the characters and pack a punch with their performances.
Now, Anushka Shetty joined this league. In her upcoming film Seelavathi with creative filmmaker Krish Jagarlamudi at the helm and set in the backdrop of the Uttarandhra area, Anushka will be seen as a fiery woman who fights for a social cause. She will speak the slang that is native to the region in this film.
The regular shooting of Seelavathi kicked off a few days and both Krish and Anushka are silently wrapping up some of the crucial portions.
This is the second time Anushka is working with Krish after Vedham. UV Creations is bankrolling the film.
