TDP National General Secretary Nara Lokesh inaugurated the ‘Shankharavam Yatra’ in Uttarandhra today, following his participation in the Ichchapuram meeting in Srikakulam district. Addressing the gathering in Palasa this evening, Lokesh likened Uttarandhra to a nurturing mother (Amma), emphasizing the unconditional love of its people. He criticized the current YSRCP regime for neglecting Uttarandhra’s development, contrasting it with the progress made during the TDP’s tenure when it was envisioned as the job capital of India.
Highlighting the historical significance of Srikakulam as a cradle of civilization and resistance, Lokesh praised notable figures like Garimella Satyanarayana, Sardar Gouthu Lachanna, and Kinjarapu Errannaidu, who hail from the region. Expressing gratitude for commencing the yatra in such sacred surroundings, he underscored the importance of the journey.
Lokesh questioned Jagan’s readiness, suggesting that the Chief Minister seems prepared to face imprisonment. He condemned instances of violence and oppression under the YSRCP rule, citing the brutal killing of BC child Amarnath Goud and the harassment leading to the suicide of Dalit intellectual Dr. Sudhakar. Lokesh accused the government of pushing individuals like minority girl Misbah to the brink of suicide, portraying Jagan as a threat to the state’s well-being
