AP CM YS Jagan Meeting With PM Modi Concluded

New Delhi: Andhra Pradesh’s Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy convened a one-and-a-half-hour meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Prime Minister’s Office in Parliament on Friday. During the session, CM Jagan apprised the Prime Minister of the Union Finance Department’s agreement to eliminate the component-wise ceiling in the Polavaram project, alongside approving funds totaling Rs. 12,911 crores for expediting the first phase’s completion. However, he underscored that the first phase’s total cost, estimated at approximately Rs. 17,144 crores, awaits approval from the Department of Hydropower, urging prompt clearance.

Additionally, CM Jagan raised the issue of pending dues worth Rs. 7,230 crores owed to AP Genco for electricity supplied to Telangana state over three years since June 2014, urging expedited payment. Moreover, he pressed for the fulfillment of other assurances made during the 2014 bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, particularly emphasizing the critical importance of special status for the state’s economic advancement, investment attraction, and employment generation.
