Hyderabad: On Friday, two Andhra Pradesh policemen were apprehended in Hyderabad for smuggling ‘Ganja,’ according to an official statement. The Cyberabad Police detained Head Constable Sagar Patnaik and Constable Srinivas from the third battalion of Andhra Pradesh Special Police (APSP) in Bachupally on the city’s outskirts. Acting on a tip-off, the Special Operations Team of Balanagar intercepted a car and discovered the policemen transporting 22 kg of Ganja. Despite being on medical leave, the officers were allegedly attempting to make money by transporting the narcotics from Narsipatnam to Bachupally. The police seized 11 packets of Ganja, each weighing 2 kg, and further investigations are underway.
Chandrababu tweeted as “Unfortunately, over the last 4.5 years, Andhra Pradesh has made more headlines for drugs than development. The recent arrest of two police officers from Kakinada in an anti-drug operation in Hyderabad is a matter of deep concern and embarrassment for our state. In light of this regrettable incident, the YSRCP government must address a crucial question: who is the mastermind behind this racket, and who are the leaders involved?”
