Amaravati: YS Sharmila, the newly appointed PCC president of the Congress party, has been critical of her brother, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, for aligning with the BJP despite its rejection by the people of the state. She criticized the party, alleging that even without a single BJP MLA in the state, the MLAs and the chief minister have become subservient to the BJP, claiming that Andhra Pradesh has been taken over by the party.
Sharmila expressed disappointment in Jagan’s silence on the unfulfilled promise of special category status, urging him to address the issue and fulfil the aspirations of their late father, Rajasekhar Reddy. Furthermore, Sharmila recalled that Rahul Gandhi’s assurance of granting special status to Andhra Pradesh after coming to power at the Centre, echoing one of the promises made in the bifurcation Act.
