For quite some time now, rumours that prominent Kapu leader Vangaveeti Radha would soon defect from TDP to YSRCP have been floating in the media. There were reports that Jagan Mohan Reddy has already assured him an MP ticket from Machilipatnam constituency and welcomed him into the party ahead of the upcoming elections.
This is because he is close to YSRCP leaders Kodali Nani and Vallabhaneni Vamshi and these rumours didn’t stop till today. Moreover, Radha’s silence and his political inactivity added more fuel to these speculations.
Radha finally came up with a strong counter earlier today. He opened up about his future political plans and categorically stated that he is not shifting loyalties to any party from TDP. Radha asserted that there is no truth in those baseless and foolish rumours which are being spread by unknown sources. He alleges a false propaganda behind these rumours.
Radha further stated that he will bring some disgruntled YSRCP leaders into TDP ahead of the elections. Recently, he met YSRCP MLA from Vijayawada East segment Boppanna Bhava Kumar and invited him to join TDP. He also met Nara Lokesh a few days ago and discussed various activities to be organised in the coming days.
Even though Radha took part in Nara Lokesh’s padayatra last year and also expressed his solidarity with Chandra Babu Naidu after his arrest in September, there have been rumours that he will soon resign from the TDP.
Now, Radha scotched all rumours with his clarification. What remains to be seen is whether he will contest in the upcoming elections or not. Though he joined TDP in 2019, he didn’t contest in those elections. He neither took part in any political activity all these years nor held any significant post in TDP.
Radha, son of Kapu scion Mohana Ranga, was an MLA of Congress party from 2004-2009. He later joined Chiranjeevi’s Prajarajyam party and then shifted to YSRCP in 2012 before coming out of it in 2019. He got married last year to a girl from Narsapuram.
