Amidst deflections of MLAs and other key leaders of the YSRCP in the run-up to the 2024 elections as tickets are being denied by the party high command, here comes another shocking development in Andhra Pradesh politics.
Just nine days after joining the party in the presence of Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and Deputy CM Narayana Swamy, former Indian cricketer Ambati Rayudu called it quits on politics.
Earlier today, he took to his social media platform X and posted ‘This is to inform everyone that I have decided to quit the YSRCP Party and stay out of politics for a little while. Further action will be conveyed in due course of time. Thank You’.
Ambati Rayudu, who played for the Indian Cricket team and announced his retirement last year, was keen on politics and hinted that he would join the YSRCP. There have been numerous speculations that he is likely to contest from Guntur MP Segment.
He met Jagan in the last week of December and announced his second innings in style by joining the party. He was also named as the brand ambassador for the ongoing ‘Adudam Andhra’ sports event.
Unfortunately, his political career started on a poor note as he declared himself retired hurt in just a week after joining the YSRCP. The reasons for his shocking decision have not yet been revealed.
