The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) is set to kick off the ‘Jayaho BC’ program in the state starting January 4. Nara Lokesh, TDP’s National General Secretary, asserted that the BCs (Backward Classes) faced injustice during the YSRCP rule, and the primary objective of the ‘Jayaho BC’ initiative is to enlighten and apprise BCs about these issues. Lokesh claimed that since assuming power, the YSRCP had created difficulties for BCs in the state, reducing local body reservations by 10%, depriving 16,000 BCs of opportunities.

He further alleged the revocation of 8,000 acres of assigned lands from BCs, scrapping the aadharana scheme, and adversely affecting BCs’ employment. According to Lokesh, TDP BC leaders advocating for BCs faced harassment with legal cases. He emphasized that BCs are not weak and clarified that TDP’s slogan is ‘strong.’ The TDP has already announced the inclusion of a special protection law for BCs in its mini-manifesto.

Lokesh disclosed that the ‘Jayaho BC’ program would span two months, with TDP leaders touring parliament, assembly constituencies, and mandals in the initial phase to assess the ground-level issues faced by BCs. Subsequently, a state-level ‘Jayaho BC’ gathering will be organized, with TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu presiding over the event. Chandrababu Naidu is expected to unveil a separate manifesto tailored for the welfare of BCs
