Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh Municipal Workers’ and Employees’ Federation held a protest in Vijayawada demanding the regularization of services for contract workers. Over 8,000 municipal and engineering department contract workers participated in demonstrations across the state on the first day of their indefinite protest. The protest, organized by labor unions of CPI, CPI(M), and CPI(ML) parties, took place in 105 out of 123 municipalities.

Workers’ main demands include service regularization, a ₹18,500 salary for Clean Andhra Pradesh (CLAP) vehicle drivers, and welfare benefits. The protest is a response to unfulfilled promises by the YSRCP government, with the federation emphasizing their commitment until their concerns are addressed. The protest was successful in various districts, featuring significant rallies in Anantapur and Visakhapatnam.
