Shruthi Haasan pinned a lot of hope on 2023 because she was aiming for a strong comeback in Tollywood after going through a period of lull. After Mahesh Babu’s Srimanthudu, Shruthi didn’t score big success in seven years as some of her notable films like Katamarayudu, Krack and Vakeel Saab failed to give the desired credit to her.
Out of nowhere, despite her low phase, she bagged solid offers in crazy projects like Salaar, Waltair Veerayya and Veera Simha Reddy. It came as a big shock to everyone to know that she turned out to be the prime choice for the leading lady’s role in these commercial films.
Grabbing these plump offers, she expected to raise her stocks further in South India with substantial roles. Unfortunately, she hardly gained any recognition because there was not much scope for characters in all three films.
In Waltair Veerayya and Veera Simha Reddy, she played typecast glamourous roles that are confined to songs and some scenes with the lead characters. In Salaar, she didn’t get a meaty role in the narrative as it is fully dominated by Prabhas and Prithviraj Sukumaran. She sizzled in a special song Natural Star Nani’s Hi Nanna, but didn’t draw much attention.
Surprisingly, all films featuring Shruthi Haasan turned out to be big hits at the box office, but failed to give any big recognition to her due to lackluster characterizations.
Nevertheless, she is aiming to consolidate her position with meaty offers in future. Up next, she will play a significant role in Adivi Sesh’s Dacoit.
