Central Election Commission To Visit AP

Amaravati: Election officials from the Central Election Commission have arrived in Andhra Pradesh to kickstart preparations for the upcoming Assembly elections. The next two days will involve a comprehensive review with Collectors and Superintendents of Police (SPs) from all districts, focusing on the thorough revision of the 2024 voter list and readiness for the forthcoming Legislative Assembly and Lok Sabha elections.

The review will feature the participation of several senior officials, including Senior Deputy Election Commissioners Dharmendra Sharma and Nitish Kumar Vyas, as well as Deputy Election Commissioners RK Gupta, Hirdesh Kumar, Ajay Bado, and others. The meetings will be held at Novotel Hotel in Vijayawada, spanning from 9:30 am to 6 pm today and 10 am to 1 pm tomorrow.

Agenda items include discussions on the voter list preparation and related matters, with district collectors delivering a presentation on the election management plan. The ECI team will also engage in talks with the state Chief Secretary, Director General of Police (DGP), and other central and state government officials regarding the organization of the 2024 general elections in the state.
