Hyderabad: The Telangana Legislative Assembly resumed after a four-day hiatus, electing Gaddam Prasad Kumar as Speaker, announced by Pro-tem Speaker Akbaruddin Owaisi. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and leaders from both ruling and opposition parties congratulated Prasad Kumar. The Chief Minister lauded the positive tradition initiated on the first day, expressing hopes for its continuity.
Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka praised Prasad Kumar’s past contributions and urged him to offer solutions to public issues. Former Minister KT Rama Rao supported the unanimous election on TRS Chief KCR’s instructions. CPI MLA Koonamneni Sambasiva Rao stressed the assembly’s role in addressing people’s problems.
Pro-tem Speaker Akbaruddin Owaisi administered the oath, with Ministers Komatireddy, Uttam Kumar Reddy, KTR, Kadiyam Srihari, and BRS MLAs also taking the oath. The former chief minister, undergoing treatment, was absent. BJP MLAs maintained their decision not to take the oath under Pro-tem Speaker Akbaruddin, intending to do so once the new Speaker is elected.
