Actor Nithiin Reddy has been desperately trying to revive his career after struggling with a series of debacles. Unfortunately, his attempts have been not fruitful so far because of his poor script selection and inability to adapt to the changing needs of audiences. His latest outing Extra Ordinary Man failed to impress moviegoers and collected dismal numbers in the first weekend.
Nithiin is one of the fewest in the second tier of actors who had a promising start to his career as he scored hits with Jayam, Dil and Sye at the beginning of the millennium era. After a dull phase of nearly a decade, Nithiin got a new lease of life with back-to-back hits in the form of Ishq and Gunde Jaari Gallanthayyinde.
Nithiin got the biggest break in his career with Trivikram’s A..Aa. Thereafter, he was unable to continue his success streak and suffered a string of flops. Only Bheeshma provided some interim relief with a decent run at the box office.
Films like Check, Rang De, Maestro, and Macherla Niyojakavargam ended as outright disasters. Extra Ordinary Man has joined the list and compounded woes for Nithiin. The ridiculous and over-the-top comedy scenes failed to entertain the audience beyond a certain point. There is nothing great to write home about Nithiin’s acting as well.
It is time for Nithiin to reinvent himself and come up with better script selection if he wants to survive in the present competition. He should realise that gone are days when lackluster scripts loaded with slapstick comedy managed to generate revenues at the ticket windows.
