From his debut film Arjun Reddy, director Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s name has been synonymous with controversies. A section of critics and moviegoers accuse him of promoting masculinity and violence through his films. But he never paid heed to such criticism and continued the same approach for all his films till now.
Despite raking so many controversies and drawing flak from feminists, Arjun Reddy turned out to be a runaway blockbuster at the box office. His Bollywood debut Kabir Singh also overcame so much negativity and backlash to emerge as a sensational hit at the ticket windows.
For the third time in his career, Sandeep Reddy bashed all critics and naysayers as his latest offering Animal, starring Ranbir Kapoor in the lead role, is heading towards becoming one of the biggest Bollywood blockbusters of all time.
Due to strong pre-release hype, Animal took a spectacular opening with over 100 Crores gross on its first day. Despite mixed reports, the film ended the first weekend on a staggering note with over 350 Crores gross.
Trade circles predicted that the collections on the first Monday would plummet because of the low ratings. But, the Monday numbers are mind-boggling as the total gross touched 425 Crores.
Refusing to slow down, Animal packed a punch on Tuesday as well with another solid haul in all territories. The total gross worldwide is close to 500 Crores. There is very little drop in numbers when compared to Monday collections. Trade pundits are shocked with the way the film has been holding on weekdays even after receiving underwhelming reports on the first day.
Animal is now en route becoming a double blockbuster in domestic and overseas territories.
