Recall a popular scene in Puri Jagannadh’s award-winning film ‘Neninthe’ in which Ravi Teja played the role of an aspiring director. After going through a lot of struggles, Ravi Teja gets a chance to direct a film and completes it despite many hurdles. But, he receives the shock of his life when he finds that his name is replaced by the producer’s name when the final copy of the movie gets ready in the editing room.
A similar incident happened in Tollywood right now. Yes, you heard it right. The director’s name of Kalyan Ram’s upcoming film Devil was replaced with the producer’s name. This has now become a hot topic of discussion in industry circles.
It is a known fact that Naveen Medaram, who earlier helmed ‘Babu Baga Busy’, was initially announced as the director for Devil. The posters that were unveiled at the start of the project featured his name. However, his name was removed later on. The first glimpse mentioned that the film is by Abhishek Pictures without giving any credits to the director.
Now, the latest posters had no mention of the director’s name. Talk in the industry is that Naveen Medaram took an unceremonious exit due to some creative differences with the production house. It is heard that Naveen was replaced after the first schedule itself as he was unable to handle the project and the team efficiently.
Producer Abhishek Nama is said to have taken up the direction of the remaining portions and completed a majority of the shoot. This is why they have replaced Naveen’s name in the posters after the first schedule.
Devil is a period drama featuring Kalyan Ram as a British counterspy. The film is slated for release on November 24th.
