USA BO : Jawan on fire, MSMP posts good show

Bollywood Baadshah Shah Rukh Khan is setting the box office on fire in all territories with his latest masala entertainer Jawan that released amidst high expectations on Thursday. The Atlee directional took a historic opening at the global box office with record-breaking collections all over. Due to unanimous reviews and glowing word of mouth, Jawan is shattering numerous records during the first weekend. Shah Rukh Khan’s one man show dwarfed all the narrative shortcomings.

On the other side, Tollywood’s latest romantic outing Miss Shetty Mr Polishetty is also performing on par with trade expectations despite facing huge competition from Jawan. The film posted good numbers so far in class centres. Likeable performances by Naveen Polishetty and Anushka Shetty headlined the rom-com.

Coming to North America collections, Jawan is raking in sensational numbers during the first weekend. The film punched out terrific opening day figures with $ 1.36 Million gross on its opening day. This is the second biggest opening for Shah Rukh Khan after his previous blockbuster Pathaan which grossed 1.48 Million on its first day. On its second day, Jawan is looking to add a mind-blowing $ 1.5 million gross to the tally to take the overall collections close to $ 3 Million in two days. This is an outstanding run for a commercial potboiler. Going by the current trend, Jawan is likely to tear apart more records by the end of the first weekend.

Despite huge domination from Jawan, Telugu film Miss Shetty Mr Polishetty amassed half a million dollars gross by the end of two days. The classy entertainer managed to draw the attention of moviegoers because of its heartwarming subject and impressive casting. The positive reviews helped the film garner good numbers after taking a promising start with $ 193K from its premieres. On the first day, MSMP added $ 150K to the tally and followed it up with $ 200K on the second day to breach the $ 550K mark.

As both Jawan and MSMP secured encouraging reviews, they are likely to put on a solid show in the first weekend. While Jawan might target $ 6 million weekend, MSMP will inch closer to $ 900K.
