69th National Awards : Allu Arjun creates history, RRR wins top honours

The 69th National Film Awards were announced by the government of India today evening. Many artists and technicians from different languages who were part of films made in 2021 were in contention this time.

Tollywood actor Allu Arjun created history as he became the first Telugu actor to win National Award in Best Actor category. For his stupendous acting as Pushpa Raj in Sukumar’s blockbuster crime drama ‘Pushpa: The Rise’, Allu Arjun won the prestigious award and also emerged as the first actor of Tollywood in its 9 decade history to receive it.

SS Rajamouli’s global hit RRR swept the awards ceremony as it received top honours in categories like Best Action Choreography, Best Choreographer, Best Special Effects Creator, Best Background score, Best Male Playback Singer and Best Popular Film.

In Best Feature Film category for Telugu, Bucchi Babu’s romantic entertainer Uppena won the award. MM Keeravani, Srinivas Mohan, Kaala Bhairava, Prem Rakshit are among those who bagged the awards for their contribution to RRR. Unfortunately, SS Rajamouli didn’t win any award for his direction in RRR.

Devi Sri Prasad won the Best Music Director Award for his outstanding work in Pushpa.

Purushottam Charyulu from Telugu won the Best Film Critic award.
