Megastar Chiranjeevi’s Bholaa Shankar is getting ready to hit the screens on August 11th. The action entertainer marks the comeback of forgotten big-ticket director Meher Ramesh who once dished out films like Billa, Kantri, Shakti and Shadow. It has been a decade since his last release.
As all his films tanked heavily at the box office, Meher Ramesh took a long sabbatical from direction. Surprisingly, he bagged a golden opportunity to direct Chiranjeevi in the Telugu remake of Tamil hit Vedhalam. The result of Bholaa Shankar will decide Meher’s future in Tollywood.
If the film manages to emerge as a decent hit, it will surely ride on Chiranjeevi’s box office stamina and Meher will get a new lease of life. But, if it fails to strike a chord with moviegoers, his career will come to an end. No Telugu hero will work with Meher Ramesh unless he proves his mettle with Bholaa Shankar. Hence, it is a make-or-break attempt for Meher Ramesh.
So far, the buzz on Bholaa Shankar is so underwhelming due to the lack of exciting content in the teasers and trailers. The songs also couldn’t gain traction with moviegoers. It will now depend on positive reviews and strong word of mouth after the premiere shows for the film to emerge as a big hit at the box office.
Bholaa Shankar has Tamannaah Bhatia and Keerthi Suresh in significant roles. Anil Sunkara of AK Entertainment banner is the producer.
