The Income Tax Department of India conducted sudden raids on BRS leaders on Wednesday without any prior information. The officials raided the residence of BRS MP Kotha Prabhakar Reddy and MLA Pailla Sekhar Reddy in this regard.
The BRS leaders and the party which is charging against the BJP-led Central Government have been facing raids for a couple of years. On Wednesday morning, IT officials split into groups and raided the residences and offices of BRS leaders at a time leaving them no time to react. As many as 70 officials conducted the searches at the MP Kotha Prabhakar Reddy and MLA Sekhar Reddy’s houses in Gachibowli, Hyderabad. Some officials also conducted searches at the residence of Bhongir MLA in Kothapet.
Experts opine that the raids were exclusively focused on the companies of Sekhar Reddy’s wife Vanitha Reddy who holds directorial positions in Health & Technologies and Main Land Digital Technologies etc. The raids continued in the shopping mall owned by the Nagarkurnool MLA Marri Janardhan Reddy in Kukatpally from 6 AM to the late evening of the day of the entire Wednesday. One has to wait for an official report from the IT Department regarding any seizure or findings from their searches.
