Mass Maharaja Ravi Teja gained the upper hand at the box office on three occasions when he locked horns with seasoned actor Nandamuri Balakrishna. Their rivalry dates back to 2008 when Balayya tasted an ignominious defeat at the hands of Ravi Teja when ‘Krishna’ film scored a resounding success at the ticket windows despite the highly anticipated mass drama ‘Okka Magadu’ which tanked heavily at the box office.
Later, Balakrishna’s family drama ‘Mitrudu’ clashed with Ravi Teja’s full-length entertainer ‘Kick’ and once again it yielded a similar result. Kick emerged as a double blockbuster and Mitrudu left no trace at the box office. Once again, they crossed swords with Paramveera Chakra and Mirapakay in 2011. It was again Ravi who came up trumps with a better result at the box office.
After 12 years, Ravi Teja is likely to pose another potential threat to Balakrishna with his upcoming film Tiger Nageswara Rao which is slated for release during the Dusshera season. Balakrishna – Anil Ravipudi’s film, which is tentatively titled Bhagavanth Kesari, is also aiming for release at the same time.
Tiger Nageswara Rao is billed as a pan-India film and the scintillating teaser received a thumping response. Meanwhile, there are good expectations for NBK – Ravipudi film as well. However, there is no peek into the genre of the film. So, it is going to be an interesting tussle between Balayya and Ravi after more than a decade.
