Akkineni Akhil is yet to score a clean box office hit that made profits in all territories. Despite hailing from an illustrious family and having a lot of support from Akkineni fans, Akhil was unable to bag a blockbuster in his career so far as none of his films managed to get unanimous talk. He is going to face another litmus test in the form of his upcoming release, Agent, which is going to hit the screens on April 28th. Surender Reddy is the director.
Agent is the most expensive film in Akhil’s career to date. It is made on a whopping budget of 80 Crores for nearly three years. Due to the long delay, the production cost multiplied and became a big burden for the producer. Agent will need to breach the 50 Crore mark with its theatrical run in order to recoup the investment of its producer. The remaining amount will be recovered through its non-theatrical business.
In many territories, Agent will be released on an advance and recoverable basis. The spy thriller will need to emerge as a blockbuster to put its buyers in a safe zone. The scintillating trailer projecting Akhil in a swashbuckling stylish avatar has generated a positive response to the film. As there is no competition from other Telugu films, Agent would take a strong opening in all territories. It is going to be an uphill task for Akhil to join the 50 Crore club considering his box-office stamina and the performance of his previous films.
