Box Office: Nani’s Dasara takes a stupendous start

Telugu rustic entertainer Dasara, starring Nani and Keerthi Suresh in the lead roles, embarked on a sensational start at the worldwide box office with a record-breaking first-day gross. The Srikanth Odhela directional amassed a terrific 38 Crore gross on its opening day including all languages This is the biggest-ever opening for a medium-budget film and a second-tier hero. The phenomenal opening came as a big surprise to trade circles.

Due to the aggressive promotional campaign and the intriguing publicity content, Dasara generated a solid buzz in all territories. The high buzz translated into numbers and resulted in a sensational opening. In major territories like Naizam ( Telangana), Dasara grossed close to 9.9 Crores, which is on par with the openings of big-ticket films like Waltair Veerayya and Veera Simha Reddy. In the USA, the film punched out close to 7 Crores gross on its opening day including Wednesday premieres.

In other territories like Ceeded, Uttarandhra and Guntur, Dasara collected solid numbers on its first day with figures of 1.50 Crores, 1.45 Crores, and 1.2 Crores respectively. The film grossed around 20 Crores from Telugu States alone on its first day. Though the collections in the North circuit are quite dismal, Dasara managed to emerge as the number one grosser of the country this week.

As the film got decent word of mouth and reviews, there are good chances for a solid run in the first weekend. The film should collect more than 100 Crores gross to be termed a hit. Going by the current trend, it is likely to cross the triple-digit by the end of its first week run.
