The results of the Gujarat general elections will be out anytime soon but looking at the fresh reports as of now, the BJP is leading in as many as 152 seats, the highest for any party in the history of Gujarat state.
The Modi wave is still working as the saffron party has seen never imagined figures at the ballot box. BJP at any cost will secure 150+ seats thereby creating a new record for itself in its seven terms of ruling. If we consider the starting point of BJP’s journey in Gujarat, it won just 11 seats in 1985 and it rose to the maximum of 127 in 2002 when Modi ran for the CM chair for the first time. Since then, it never got defeated and it saw a decline in seats in 2017. However, the Modi wave again struck the chord and the Indian PM himself participated in the campaigning which pulled the party to a thumping victory.
While the saffron party is on cloud nine, the opposition party Congress is trailing at 18 constituencies, and the newest party which gave tough competition might win 7 seats. This is indeed a high boost for the BJP as it looks forward to repeating the same magic for the PM elections that arrive in the near future.
