Is CBN’s last chance statement going wrong?

Thursday, September 19, 2024

The TDP’s national chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu has made a request to the people of Andhra Pradesh in his recent public meeting. He has asked the voters to give him one last chance as the upcoming 2024’s general elections might be his last as a politician.

The last-chance comments of this veteran politician in the Kurnool public speech are now going in two directions according to the political trends of Andhra Pradesh. Some are coming in support of CBN but some point out the weakness. In general, ‘Last chance’ seems to be quite genuine as it rhymed with Jagan’s ‘Okka Chance’ in the 2019 election campaign which worked wonders for the latter. Along with ‘Last chance’, Naidu is also using the woman sentiment by reiterating the scathing comments made by YSRCP leaders on his wife Vasundhara. On the flip side, asking such being a veteran himself witnessing four decades-long political careers and stating that he might retire post-2024 polls only makes him appear so vulnerable, desperate, and weak. On top of all this, sentiment never worked for Chandrababu Naidu and the Alipiri blast is an example. Even though he got deeply injured, CBN lost to YSR and Congress gained power in the preceded elections. The ex-CM of AP further damaged his own reputation by kept repeating that he promised that he wouldn’t enter the Assembly unless he becomes the Chief Minister again and if he fails, then it will be the end of his political run.

All said and done, the growing anti-incumbency on the ruling party YSRCP and voters changing their mindset along with fresh surveys, everything suggests that TDP with the alliance of Janasena might win the upcoming elections as Babu promised people of turning the Assembly of ‘Maya Sabha’ as ‘Dharma Sabha.
