NDA’s leader Draupadi Murmu became India’s first tribal president by winning more than 50% of the total vote value after only three rounds of counting. The opposition candidate Yashwant Sinha has acknowledged the defeat as Murmu set a landmark by becoming the first member of a tribe to hold the nation’s highest office. As per the sources, she will take office as president on July 25th. Also, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and top members of his Cabinet, and BJP leader JP Nadda have visited Ms. Murmu to offer their congratulations.
