125 ft statue of Ambedkar, the new goal of AP Govt

Andhra Pradesh Government, led by Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy is all set to implement a huge project for the city of Vijayawada. It is going to inaugurate a 125 feet statue of Baba Saheb Dr. Ambedkar’s statue in the state on the occasion of his birth anniversary on the 14th of April, this year.

CM Jagan in his recent review meeting with the officials revealed crucial details of this project for Andhra Pradesh. According to the officials, CM wants to have a huge bronze statue of Dr. Ambedkar with a staggering 125 feet, making it the biggest statue of the legend ever in India. For this, the CM asked the Chief Secretary of the state to form a committee to monitor the works such that the project meets the deadline. 

As much as a whopping 268 crores of rupees are invested in this statue to place it in the Swaraj Maidan grounds of Vijayawada as an attraction. They are reportedly using 352 metric tons of steel to form the base frame and 112 metric tons of Bronze to make this prestigious statue. The entire statue will be placed on an 81 feet pedestal making the entire project as tall as 206 feet in total. The pedestal shall have two floors apart from the ground floor for the tourists along with a convention center that accommodates 2000 people at a time. 

As of now, officials named this statue as ‘Smriti Vanam’ project and it will be completed by the end of March at any cost to install it on the pedestal. Already the casting works for the statue are done and they shall be transported to Vijayawada once the base is constructed to install on top of it.
