Ambati Rambabu, former Minister of Andhra Pradesh and YSRCP leader, reacted to the recent meeting of the chief ministers of the Telugu states in Hyderabad. Ambati expressed doubts over Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu’s statement that the two states are like “two eyes” to him.
“Has Chandrababu accepted the demands of Telangana? Is he planning to betray the people of Andhra Pradesh? What does it mean to say that the two states are like two eyes? What conspiracy is there behind this? What was discussed in the meeting of the two CMs? Why are those details being kept secret?” Ambati questioned.
“Many questions remained unanswered at the meeting of the chief ministers of the two states. He also did not explain why the meeting was convened. Telangana has asked for a share in TTD’s revenue and AP ports. There have been many controversies over the Nagarjuna Sagar Dam… Why didn’t Chandrababu speak on it?” he asked. “After the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, Chandrababu was the first chief minister of the state. But why did he abandon Hyderabad, which was supposed to be the joint capital for 10 years? It was because of his mistakes that he faced repercussions.
If there was serious injustice to AP due to the bifurcation, Chandrababu has done even more injustice by not resolving issues with Telangana. Now there are reports that Chandrababu has agreed to give five villages to Telangana. Is he giving those villages for personal reasons? If true, this is a betrayal of the Polavaram project. The damage to Polavaram was not due to the change of contractor or reverse tendering; it was because, during Chandrababu’s tenure, the diaphragm wall was constructed without completing the coffer dams. Polavaram was delayed due to the construction of a coffer dam in the middle of the river during his tenure.
It is suspected that Telangana requested that water should not be filled up to 51.5 feet in Polavaram during the recent meeting of the chief ministers. Why does Chandrababu talk about other issues without addressing these critical matters?” said Ambati Rambabu.
