YSRCP Leader Vallabhaneni Vamsi Released From Jail After Getting A Big Relief From Supreme Court

Friday, December 5, 2025

YSRCP leader and former MLA Vallabhaneni Vamsi was released from Vijayawada jail on Wednesday after getting a big relief from the Supreme Court. The Apex Court has rejected the cancellation of anticipatory bail granted by the High Court in two cases.

A two-judge bench of the Supreme Court comprising Justice Manoj Mishra and Justice Koteshwar Singh heard the petition filed by Sunkara Seetha Mahalakshmi seeking cancellation of anticipatory bail granted to Vamsi by the High Court in the case of an attack on her in the context of a land dispute.

The bench dismissed the petition on the ground that the attack took place in 2024 and the complaint was filed in 2025. The Andhra Pradesh government has also filed a petition seeking cancellation of the anticipatory bail granted by the High Court to Vamsi in the mining case.

The petition was heard by a two-judge bench of the Supreme Court comprising Justice MM Sundaresh and Justice Vinod Chandran on Wednesday. Has Vamsi already been arrested in many cases?, the bench asked the government. Senior advocate Siddharth Luthra, appearing for the government, argued that bail was granted without hearing their arguments. He said that illegal mining of Rs. 195 crore had taken place.

He said that the investigation report being conducted in this regard is 700 pages long. The bench, which intervened at this stage, ordered the state government to submit the report in a sealed cover. The next hearing was adjourned to the 17th of this month. Earlier on Tuesday, the Nuzvid Second Additional Judicial First Class Magistrate Court granted bail to Vamsi in the fake house patta case.

The court set conditions for the bail like to submit two sureties of Rs 1 lakh each and to attend in the station twice a week. With this, Vamsi’s lawyers reached the Vijayawada sub-jail on Wednesday afternoon with copies of the bail order. Former ministers Perni Nani and Talashila Raghuram also came to the sub-jail. The former MLA came out of jail after Vamsi’s lawyers submitted copies of the bail order to the jail authorities. In total, Vamsi had to stay in jail for about 137 days in various cases.

It may be recalled that Vamsi is accused of distributing fake house titles to lure voters in the Gannavaram constituency in the 2019 general elections. Vamsi, who is a remand prisoner in this case, approached the Nuzvid court for bail. The arguments on this were concluded four weeks ago and the court granted bail to him on Tuesday. He was also granted bail in the two other cases against Vamsi last month.
