Popular psephologist and founder of I-PAC, Prashant Kishor, known as PK in political circles, made startling comments on Andhra Pradesh politics. His assertive statements on the upcoming elections in the state seem to sound a death knell for the ruling dispensation led by YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. This Sunday, Kishor attended an event on the much anticipated 2024 elections, ‘Express Dialogues’ conducted by the Indian Express news magazine.
During this event, Kishor categorically stated that YS Jagan’s party is going to stare at an embarrassing defeat in the 2024 assembly elections of AP as per his gut feeling. He also expressed deep regret for having lent electioneering support to YSRCP in 2019. Expressing his opinion on the upcoming elections, Kishor said Jagan is going to lose big this time because he was unable to develop the State any better and simply concentrated on doling out cash Welfare schemes to the public.
Kishor opined that political parties cannot win by transferring money into the accounts of the voters. They should take up developmental activities to win the trust of the people. Kishor said the same thing happened to KCR’s BRS during last year’s election.
Kishor has a solid track record in analyzing the pulse of voters. He played an instrumental role in YSRCP’s landslide victory in 2019. After he came out of I-PAC, Kishor stopped working for political parties. Chandra Babu Naidu wanted him to work for TDP this time and invited him for talks a few months ago. But, he declined the offer and also openly stated that he is not working for any party now.
Kishor’s statements are currently going viral all over social media platforms. It seems like Jagan Mohan Reddy will face an uphill task with the TDP – Janasena alliance which is likely to upset his plans of reclaiming power again for the second time.
Already, so many surveys and reports predicted YSRCP’s defeat in 2024. Now, Kishor’s statements will further dampen the spirits of its supporters.
