Today, the Congress Party’s high command announced Y.S. Sharmila as its candidate for the Lok Sabha seat in Kadapa, Andhra Pradesh. In response, Sharmila disclosed her decision to contest from Kadapa on behalf of the Congress Party, acknowledging the difficulty of her choice, given its potential familial repercussions. Sharmila accused Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy of shielding individuals involved in her uncle Vivekananda Reddy’s assassination, denouncing political violence. She vowed to challenge Avinash, whom she labeled as her uncle’s murderer, in Kadapa, making his defeat her primary objective. Asserting her candidacy as a fulfillment of her uncle’s wishes and a commitment to serve Kadapa, Sharmila appealed for the support of the electorate in her electoral journey.
