YCP chief and former chief minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy, who has been maintaining close rapport with top BJP leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for the last 10 years, though he is not officially part of the NDA, is now seen as coming closer to Congress-led INDIA block after his disastrous debacle in recent elections.
Presence of representatives from various opposition parties expressing solidarity at his dharna on July 24 in New Delhi demanding President’s rule in Andhra Pradesh, indicating his restless efforts seeking some `political shelter’ in the national capital. As many as 9 opposition parties represented at the Dharna. Except AIADMIK, all other parties are part of the INDIA block.
Samajwadi Party chief and former UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav became a star supporter at the dharna. As Chandrababu Naidu-led TDP became key supporter for the survival of Narendra Modi government, Jagan said to be realized that no more he may get `protection umbrella from the BJP top leaders.
BJP top leaders are also seems to be keenly observing Jaganmohan Reddy’s movements in Delhi. After the dharna, he remained in Delhi and tried to meet President, Prime Minister and Home Minister, besides others. For the first time, he failed to get appointment of any one in Delhi though he waited for two days. As a result, he has returned back with frustration.
Former finance minister and senior TDP leader Yanamala Ramakrishnudu said that there are clear chances of Jagan coming closer to the INDIA block, as he want some shelter at Delhi level. Moreover, he said INDIA block also need some significant presence in Andhra Pradesh, as presently it has no representation from here. APCC chief YS Sharmila failed to make any mark in recent elections.
He said all these years Jagan played key role in obstructing BJP from reaching into any understanding with the TDP, promising his whole-heart support. With the formation of TDP, Jana Sena and BJP alliance government in the state and this alliance became a crucial part for the BJP at the national level, now a situation has arisen where Jagan cannot come closer to the NDA, he added.
