A tragic incident unfolded in Besant Nagar, Chennai, as a luxury car driven by Beeda Madhuri, daughter of YSRCP Rajya Sabha MP Beeda Masthan Rao, struck and fatally injured a man sleeping on a pavement in Kalakshetra Colony. The victim, identified as 22-year-old Surya, lost his life in the unfortunate accident. Madhuri claimed she failed to notice the man and was later tracked down through the phone number used to call for an ambulance.
Following the accident, Madhuri and her friend reportedly fled the scene, leading to public outrage. Despite CCTV footage capturing the incident and identifying the driver, Madhuri was arrested by Chennai’s Adyar Traffic Police for causing death by negligence and traffic violations. She was subsequently released on station bail.
This incident, reminiscent of a recent case in Pune involving a teen driver, has sparked controversy and demands for justice from Surya’s relatives and neighbors. Beeda Masthan Rao, the father of Beeda Madhuri and a prominent figure in the BMR Group, has a political background with affiliations to TDP and later YSRCP, where he currently serves as a Rajya Sabha MP.
