YSRCP members walked out in the Legislative Council on Thursday during a debate on corruption. Earlier, a short discussion was started in the House on the scams that took place between 2019- 2024. While TDP members mentioned the corruption that took place during this period, YSRCP members insisted on a discussion on the corruption that took place between 2014-19 as well.
As decided earlier, the discussion on the corruption that took place between 2019-24 began. In this discussion, YSRCP members Kumbha Ravi Babu and Thumati Madhav Rao mentioned the corruption that took place between 2014 and 2019. They mentioned the allegations made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi that the construction of Polavaram has become an ATM for Chandrababu Naidu.
Ministers Kollu Ravindra, Atchennaidu, BC Janardhan Reddy, MLCs B.Rangopal Reddy, Panchumarthi Anuradha and others also spoke and mentioned the issues of corruption during the YSRCP regime. The ministers lashed out at corruption in liquor, sand, electricity and other sectors during the YSRCP regime.
After the speeches of the members of both parties, the chairman ruled that the minister, Satya Prasad, should reply to the debate. However, when the minister, Satya Prasad, mentioned corruption cases that had taken place during the previous government, opposition leader Botsa Satyanarayana objected.
He criticized that they have been alleging corruption during the previous government for the past 10 months, but unable to prove a single allegation. He challenged them to prove it if they can. He accused them of repeatedly alleging corruption without evidence and making it their job to smear the YSRCP.
He demanded that the SIT investigation report set up on Visakhapatnam lands during the TDP regime be made public if they can. He accused that their job was to discredit the opposition members and that the government does not have a specific policy on development and welfare.
He said that it is not right to talk about people who are not in the House and announced that they were walking out of the House in protest against the TDP government’s behavior, especially by objecting to the mention of Jagan’s name. Later, all the YSRCP members walked out.
The ministers objected to this. They were angry that you made allegations against us and when they gave answers, you were leaving the House. Later, while Minister Satya Prasad was answering the debate on the scandals that took place during the YSRCP regime, Chairman Motion Raju adjourned the House to Monday, saying that the answer should also be postponed.
