With polling going on in less than 10 days, high-profile AP minister RK Roja is facing a massive revolt from her own party leaders in all five mandals of her constituency Nagiri. All the key YCP leaders announced their resignation from the party en masse and said they are meeting on Sunday to decide their future course of action.
They are strongly protesting against the party decision to re-nominate as its candidate without listening to their discontent. The efforts made by the district minister and state party leaders for the last few days to pacify rifts between them are said to have failed to convince them to support Roja in the elections.
Those who revolted against Roja and announced their resignation from the party are former Srisailam board chairman, senior leader Reddyvari Chakrapani Reddy, Lakshmipathi Raju and Murali Reddy. On the other hand, unable to bear the hardships and insults given by Roja, two MPTCs Reddy Bhaskar Reddy and Vijaya also resigned.
Six sarpanches Tulsi Reddy, Gopi, Prabhakar, Sampurna, Jayamma and Manohar Naidu also announced their resignation. All these leaders are angry with Roja’s attitude and ill-treatment.
Reminding that Roja, who is an iron leg, has become a golden leg today because of their support, they said that the resignations will not stop here and will continue.
It was announced that a large-scale protest program would be organized on Sunday. They asserted that people of Nagiri are ready to drive Roja out of Nagiri for the protection of the property of the people of Nagari.
They deplored that during Chandrababu Naidu regime, the government had collected 2,000 acres of land for the establishment of an industrial estate in Nagiri. But, later during YCP government Roja as chairman of APICC, they said instead of developing the industrial estate allowed her brothers to give away those lands to TTD taking crores of rupees commission.
They demanded that the incoming government should investigate the corruption of Roja and her family members. They alleged that she has been collecting heavy bribes for small employment posts, transfers and 10 per cent commission from CM Relief Fund.
Stating that they are ready to take oath at Kanipakam temple on their allegations against Roja, they challenge let her also come there.
