As the polling date is nearing, YCP leaders are losing patience, sensing severe discontent among people and resorting to violent attacks against opponents to terrorise voters. Anakapalli BJP candidate and former Rajya Sabha member C M Ramesh was attacked by goons of Deputy Chief Minister and YCP candidate for Anakapalli Lok Sabha Budi Muthyala Naidu on Saturday.

Earlier Muthyala Naidu and his associates attacked BJP leader Gangadhar and others when they hosted BJP flag in Naidu’s native village Tharuva of Madugula mandal of Anakapalli district. Knowing this incident, CM Ramesh went their to express solidarity to them.

But he was not allowed into the village and they attacked his convoy also. Then he went to the police station to complain and protested as they remained as silent spectators towards deputy chief minister’s goons’ mischief. Instead of giving assurance to take action, police arrested CM Ramesh also and later released him.

Ramesh’s team filed a complaint against Boodi and his followers and demanded to register a case of attempt to murder. Incidentally, BJP leader Gangadhar is brother of deputy chief minister’s first wife, but he became impatient if some one hoisting BJP flag in their village. In fact BJP leaders hoisted the flag with the permission of the election officials.

Deputy Chief Minister Budi Muthyala Naidu himself chased some BJP activists and attacked the leaders of the alliance. BJP leader Gangadhar was slapped. Two motorcycles were destroyed. Four people were seriously injured in this attack.

When CM Ramesh went to the police station to protest, even police officials behaved improperly and arrested him. When they were taking him in a police jeep, YCP activists attacked the vehicles with sticks and destroyed three cars belonging to Ramesh. The YCP leaders also tried to attack the police vehicles transporting him.

BJP state president Daggubati Purandeshwari expressed her anger on the state government and the police force after the arrest of CM Ramesh. She expressed anger for arresting him just only for questioning. She alleged that the police acted against the election rules and that the government was doing these things with the police to conspiratorially obstruct the opposition parties in the elections. On the other hand, the key leaders of Ramesh’s arrest coalition reacted strongly.
