The construction of Amaravati as the capital city of Andhra Pradesh has resumed following the formation of the coalition government. The state government is moving ahead with the aim of expediting the development of the capital.
Minister Narayana, during his visit to the capital region today, announced that the Amaravati construction would be completed within three years. He attributed the delay in initiating works to legal challenges. While inspecting the administrative towers near Nelapadu, he shared these details with the media.
Narayana revealed that tenders for 40 works have been invited so far. He emphasized that Amaravati is being developed with the vision of making it one of the world’s top five cities. Renowned architect Norman Foster has been tasked with designing iconic buildings for the city.
The minister highlighted that, before 2019, during the TDP regime, construction had begun on 4,053 flats for judges, officials, and employees. Plans are underway to construct a 250-meter-tall Assembly building, designed to function as a tourism spot on non-session days. Additionally, the infrastructure includes underground pipelines for drinking water, electricity lines, and drainage systems.
