Why Pawan Kalyan Didn’t comment on Rushikonda palace ?

Monday, December 23, 2024

Janasena party president Pawan Kalyan is the Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. He has the freedom to comment individually and openly about any issue pertaining to the state. But, he has been adopting a selective approach in reacting on certain aspects and this strategy appears a bit weird to his followers and the public.

On Monday, Pawan completed a swift tour to Vizianagaram district where he met the victims of diarrhoea that claimed around eight lives and left many hospitalized. He assured complete support from the government and also promised to take measures to ensure fresh drinking water supply to villages.

On his way back, Pawan made a surprise stop in Vishakapatnam to visit the controversial Rushikonda palace which has become a talking point in the state ever since Bheemili MLA Ghanta Srinivas Rao opened the doors of the building after the assembly election results in June this year. The manner in which Jagan Mohan Reddy’s government squandered public money to build a palatial residence just to stay there with family after coming to power received widespread public condemnation.

It is quite surprising that Pawan Kalyan didn’t utter a single word about the palace after making a thorough inspection along with the local leaders. He strolled around the palace and interacted with the workers there. But, didn’t spoke anything to the media about the palace.

Many believe that Pawan Kalyan don’t want to talk anything about the palace without the permission of Chief Minister and TDP president Chandrababu Naidu. Usually, a statement or two is expected from Pawan because of the fact that the building turned out to be the bone of contention between the ruling party and the YSR Congress party. But, he didn’t pass any comments and left the building after a brief visit.

The NDA government seems to be indecisive about using the building and temporarily abandoned plans to convert it into a tourist purpose or official residence.

The contentious Rushikonda palace was constructed by the previous government with an exchequer money of 500 Crores.
