Konidela Nagababu, brother of Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan and a prominent leader in Janasena, entering the cabinet of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is just a formality now as the decision to induct him has already been finalized. Just like it happened for Nara Lokesh in 2017, Nagababu will be named as a cabinet minister and will be nominated as an MLC in the next six months.
Ever since the news of Nagababu turning a cabinet minister came out, there have been numerous speculations on what portfolio will be handed over to him by the NDA government of Andhra Pradesh. Though Nagababu has been actively involved in politics since the launch of Chiranjeevi’s Prajarajyam party in 2009, he has got no experience in matters relating to governance and bureaucracy. So, he might be given any insignificant portfolio as there won’t be much pressure on him.
There are rumours in political circles that Nagababu might head the ministry of Cinematography along with the new portfolio for addressing grievances from the public. At present, Janasena minister Kandula Durgesh is handling both Cinematography and Tourism portfolios. Chandrababu has reportedly decided to split Cinematography and add Grievance Redressal system and make it into one portfolio to accommodate Nagababu into his cabinet. Kandula Durgesh will handle only Tourism Ministry as there are ambitious plans to develop the state into a Tourism hub.
As Nagababu is well aware of the difficulties in film industry and how to control ticket prices as he belongs to Tollywood, it would be easier for him to handle the cinematography ministry rather than any other portfolio.
Though there is a hearsay that Nagababu will be given Home Ministry to replace Vangalapudi Anitha, sources revealed that there are no such plans as Chandrababu Naidu won’t want make hasty changes to his cabinet in just six months after coming to power. There are also rumours that Naidu is planning to sack 5 Ministers due to inefficiency. But, these are unsubstantiated news floating in the media without any evidence.
