Soon after TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu took charge as Chief Minister of the state and the TDP emerged as the key supporter of the Narendra Modi-led government at the center, as the BJP is lacking absolute majority, Andhra Pradesh started receiving several positive signals from the Center.
Even before Chandrababu’s swearing-in, Rs.5,000 were released from the Centre and a huge project of Rs.50,000 crores worth oil refinery is being proposed to be set up in the state. In addition, a long-pending issue of direct flight services from Vijayawada to Mumbai is also resolved.
Air India is going to run these services on the initiative of Machilipatnam MP Vallabhaneni Bala Shouri. Bala Shouri and Vijayawada MP Keshineni Chinni will launch this evening at Gannavaram airport. Passengers will be issued boarding passes.
This Air India flight departs from Mumbai every evening and reaches Gannavaram at 5.45 pm. At the airport, the staff will welcome the plane by splashing water on it. Return from Vijayawada will be at 7.10 pm and reach Mumbai in two hours.
This Air India AI599 service has a seating capacity of 180. Moreover, it is said that there will be an opportunity to export agricultural and fishery products to Mumbai and abroad through this service.
Air India has started ticket booking for Vijayawada- Mumbai only a month ago. The initial ticket price for this flight has been fixed at Rs.5,600. This has created a demand from passengers.
Earlier there was a flight service from Vijayawada to Mumbai, but this service was canceled during Covid19. Recently, AP Chambers of Commerce requested to operate a flight service from Vijayawada to Mumbai. Air India responded positively immediately to run the service. To this extent, the schedule has been announced and booking has been taken up.
Moreover, as TDP three-time MP K Ramamohan Naidu became Civil Aviation Minister in the Modi government, air connectivity to Andhra Pradesh is likely to be improved substantially.
